Titus Telecom – Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) applies to all Titus Telecom services and any services we act as a reseller. It forms part of the agreement between Titus Telecom and Customer and should be read alongside: (i) the Hosted Terms and Conditions; (ii) the IoT Cellular Terms and Conditions; and (iii) any applicable Connectivity agreement forms (Service Schedules).
Policy scope and precedence: the AUP governs acceptable behaviour, security and network‑integrity requirements across all services. Product‑specific terms (e.g., Hosted Terms; IoT Cellular Terms) govern tariff allowances, charging and product mechanics. In the event of a conflict, the product‑specific terms prevail for tariff allowances/charges; the AUP prevails for misuse/behavioural rules (e.g., AIT, gateways, CLI, security).
Introduction & Scope
The Customer must, and must ensure that all Customer Entities and End Users, comply with this AUP when using the Products. References to “Titus Telecom”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the contracting Titus Telecom entity and our Network Provider(s). References to “Website” are to https://www.titustelecom.co.uk.

1. Use of the Services
1.1 The Customer is responsible for all use of the Products by Customer Entities and End Users.
1.2 The Customer must observe and comply (and must ensure that all Customer Entities comply) with: (i) all Applicable Laws (including Ofcom General Conditions and guidance) and any lawful instructions from regulatory or law‑enforcement authorities (including for lawful intercept and cybersecurity); (ii) any acceptable/fair‑use policies of relevant Network Provider(s); and (iii) any reasonable instructions notified by Titus Telecom or a Network Provider from time to time to protect service integrity or comply with Applicable Law.
1.3 The Customer must not take any action that would prevent or materially degrade compliance with lawful intercept or data‑retention obligations applicable to us or a Network Provider.
2. Unacceptable Use
2.1 The Customer shall not (and shall ensure that Customer Entities and End Users do not) use the Products in any way that:
(a) is illegal or unlawful in any relevant country;
(b) infringes intellectual property or privacy rights (including reverse‑engineering, disassembly or decompilation, including on any SIM);
(c) is fraudulent or constitutes Artificially Inflated Traffic (AIT);
(d) transmits malware/viruses or attempts unauthorized access, probing or interception;
(e) disrupts networks/systems or degrades service quality for other users; V1.3
(f) misuses or mis‑presents CLI (including presenting UK CLI from abroad, or using numbers on a DNO list);
(g) involves sending bulk unsolicited communications (e.g., spam) or operating open relays/proxies;
(h) brings Titus Telecom or any Network Provider into disrepute.
2.2 Acceptable Usage Policy — “Unlimited” Plans
Applicability. This Section 2.2 applies only to mobile plans marketed as “Unlimited”. IoT Cellular tariffs (data‑only SIMs for IoT/M2M) are allowance‑based and are governed by the tariff in the Connectivity agreement (Tariff addendum) in the IoT Cellular Terms, including any Aggregated Allowance/Data Pool rules and overage pricing.
We do not impose usage caps that result in additional charges or suspension for legitimate users. We may apply proportionate, transparent traffic management to protect service quality for all users.
Usage will be treated as inconsistent with ordinary business use (and therefore as misuse under clause 2.1) if any of the following occur (non‑exhaustive):
– regular tethering to twelve (12) or more devices;
– data usage of 650 GB or more in any two (2) months within a six (6) month period;
– data roaming usage exceeding 25 GB within a single billing period (a charge of £2.00 per GB applies after 25 GB on certain networks — currently Vodafone from 1 July 2022 and O2 from 1 August 2022);
– UK‑to‑EU international calling minutes exceeding 3,000 minutes within a single billing period;
– use by automated means or in a manner that damages or impairs the hosting network;
– fraudulent, abusive, illegal or nuisance use.
Roaming Fair Usage. Inclusive roaming is intended for periodic travel, not semi‑permanent or permanent roaming. If, over any four (4) month observation window, a user spends more time in eligible roaming destinations than in the UK and their roaming usage exceeds their domestic usage, we may apply out‑of‑bundle roaming charges in line with the applicable price guide, and/or adjust, suspend or terminate the subscription. We may disconnect subscriptions for policy breach; a standard cease fee of £30 per subscription may apply.
Where such patterns are detected, we may (i) apply proportionate traffic management; (ii) contact you to discuss a more suitable tariff; and/or (iii) restrict services, adjust the plan or terminate the agreement based on the severity of misuse. V1.3
Network‑specific charges and dates may change from time to time. The current position is maintained on our Fair Usage page: https://www.titustelecom.co.uk/legal/fup.
2.3 Voice Tariffs (Appropriate Use)
Voice tariffs are intended for use in voice‑enabled devices (e.g., smartphones). Using a voice tariff predominantly for data‑only consumption is non‑appropriate use and may result in restriction, plan adjustment or termination.
3. Fraudulent Traffic
3.1 The Customer shall not use (and shall prevent use of) the Products for distributing fraudulent, deceptive, malicious, harmful, illegal or disruptive traffic (“Fraudulent Traffic”), including Artificially Inflated Traffic (AIT) for voice or messaging.
3.2 AIT — SMS (OTP/SMS Pumping). The Customer must not generate or facilitate SMS AIT (including OTP/SMS pumping). Where we reasonably suspect AIT (for example, abnormal OTP volumes, anomalous international routing or non‑delivery patterns), we may block such traffic, require mitigations, and recover associated costs/charges.
3.3 Indicators of Fraudulent Traffic may include (without limitation): high share of traffic from limited SIMs/IMSIs; high share to unusual or high‑cost numbers (premium‑rate, value‑added, conference, satellite, or high‑cost international destinations); high frequency/long duration calls; and high frequency call attempts/signalling.
4. IoT / Machine‑to‑Machine (M2M) Data‑Only Services
4.1 Products provisioned as IoT or M2M SIMs provide data‑only connectivity and must not be used to transmit circuit‑switched voice or over‑the‑top (OTT) VoIP unless we have expressly agreed in writing on a specific tariff. We may apply technical measures to restrict unauthorized voice/VoIP usage on IoT/M2M SIMs.
4.2 Where a Private APN or Fixed Public IP Service is provided, the Customer is responsible for device configuration and security; use of the Public APN may incur charges. Requests to disable the Public APN will be actioned where the network allows and charges will apply up to the disablement taking effect.
4.3 This Section 4 complements (and does not replace) the IoT Cellular Terms. See in particular the IoT Cellular Terms: clause 5.6(a) (no voice including VoIP unless expressly agreed), clauses 4.2–4.4 (APN enablement/disablement and Fixed Public IP Service precautions), and clauses 22–23 (suspension/termination). V1.3
5. Equipment
5.1 The Customer must ensure any equipment or software connected to our or a Network Provider’s Systems is compliant, lawful, and does not impair network security or lawful‑intercept capability.
6. Gateways (GSM Gateways / SIM Boxes / COMUGs)
6.1 The Customer must not establish, install, connect or allow connection of any GSM Gateway, SIM Box or Commercial Multi‑User Gateway (COMUG) to the Systems (i) where prohibited by Applicable Law; or (ii) where permitted by law, without our prior written consent, which we may grant or withhold in accordance with our published policy.
6.2 Customer must immediately notify us if it becomes aware of any End User or third party using an illegal or unauthorized Gateway in connection with the Products and provide reasonable technical details upon request. We may require disconnection and take enforcement action including suspension and recovery of related payments/bonuses associated with the discontinued gateway usage.
6.3 Bulk traffic and immediate suspension. You must not use SIMs in any equipment that enables call or data routing or the sending of bulk SMS/voice/data services; we may suspend without notice where we reasonably suspect such use. You remain liable for access charges during any suspension.
6.4 We may amend our Gateway/COMUG policy on reasonable notice to reflect changes in law or regulatory direction.
7. Calling Line Identification (CLI) & Number Presentation
7.1 The Customer must ensure all outbound calls present a valid, dialable CLI that uniquely identifies the caller and that the Customer is authorised to use. The Customer must not spoof, mis‑present or otherwise misuse CLI, including presenting a UK CLI on calls originating outside the UK or using numbers on any Do Not Originate (DNO) list.
7.2 We may identify and block calls with invalid/non‑dialable CLI, calls that do not uniquely identify the caller, calls presenting UK CLI from abroad, or calls using numbers on a DNO list, where technically feasible.
8. Security, Monitoring and Lawful Intercept
8.1 We may process usage and traffic data to: (i) protect our services and the Systems; (ii) detect, prevent and investigate fraud/abuse; and (iii) comply with lawful warrants, directions and retention obligations. Further details are set out in our Privacy Notice at https://www.titustelecom.co.uk/legal/privacy. V1.3
8.2 The Customer must implement reasonable security controls for access to the Products (e.g., strong passwords, MFA where available, prompt removal of leavers) and must not take any action that would prevent or materially degrade compliance with lawful intercept or data‑retention obligations applicable to us or a Network Provider.
9. Enforcement; Suspension & Termination
We may investigate usage to ascertain compliance with this AUP and any product‑specific FUP. Based on the severity of misuse, we may restrict Services, or suspend or terminate Services. For hosted telephony and connectivity services, enforcement is under the Hosted Terms: clause 2.3 (Suspension) and clause 5 (Termination). For IoT Cellular Services, enforcement is under the IoT Cellular Terms: clause 22 (Suspension) and clause 23 (Termination). Where reasonably practicable and lawful, we will provide prior notice and an opportunity to remedy; however, we may act immediately in cases of serious harm, legal obligation, or network/security risk.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may amend this AUP from time to time in accordance with the Hosted Terms and/or IoT Cellular Terms (as applicable). The latest version is published at https://www.titustelecom.co.uk/legal/aup. Material changes will be notified to Customers on a durable medium where required by Applicable Law.
